Public Examination Scheduled for Sheffield Cuper Casino Bid

Sheffield city officials organized a public meeting in the city in September. The panel will decide whether Sheffield should allow a super casino in their state.

Wednesday, September 6, will be the venue announced by Prof. Stephen Crow, chairman of the Casino Advisory Panel. He said, "At the "Examination in Public", the panel will hear more from Sheffield Council and other invited participants on the merits of a regional casino in the area.

"The panel will also be holding an EiP in each of the other seven local authority areas that have been shortlisted for a regional casino. The evidence provided will assist the panel to make its recommendation to the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport as to where in Britain the regional casino should be located."

Application to anyone who would want to participate in this discussion should make a brief summary, in more than 1,500 words, of the case they want to make during the discussion and submit by 4pm on Thursday, August 10.

The decisions that the panel will be making is the final. Prof. Crow added: "As Parliament has already decided there should be one regional casino in Britain, the panel will expect participants to give their views on why or why not it should be in Sheffield, rather that their views on gambling generally."

Two groups, the anti-casino and the support casino group have already been preparing to take part in the meeting.
